Michelle - Hawthorn Hedge Pottery
I am a painter and potter living on the border of Cornwall and Devon.
Whether I am painting or creating pottery, my inspiration often stems from nature and folklore.
All of my pottery is hand built and I spend a lot of time delicately painting details in glazes and oxides before firing each piece. I love pottery, as it can be a slow meditative process where the final piece is never quite guaranteed.
My paintings follow a similar process, I like to use watercolours, acrylics and oils depending on the subject matter.
I have exhibited my work in galleries in the UK and abroad. In 2017 I was one of 15 winners who had their work selected to go on tour inside the world's smallest travelling gallery – known as The Tight Modern. The gallery is a miniature replica of the Tate Modern and it was taken all over the UK where it stopped at various libraries and art venues/fairs, allowing people to experience stepping into the smallest travelling gallery in the world.
Since living in the South West we have opened a small family run farm animal sanctuary. These days, all funds from my art go towards the upkeep and care of our wonderful rescue sheep and poultry.
